What does Agnos mean?

The term Agnos is derived from the Greek noun, gnosis, which implies knowledge, and the prefix ‘A’ alters the meaning to ‘one who does not know'. We believe that there are many "known unknowns" in the business world and our day-to-day life, and continuous analysis, learning and hard work can help people in their quest to uncover these ‘known unknowns’.

The term ‘Agnos’ was also chosen as it aligns well with the core guiding principle that we must always remain “technology agnostic” when advising our clients.

We, at Agnos, challenge ourselves every day to question and resolve these "known unknowns" of our client's business and IT operations while also working on the "known unknowns" surrounding the Digital Divide.

Agnos

Our Mascot

Our high-spirited stone-hued elephant exemplifies the power, strength, stability, and wisdom required to keep pace with the continuous technology disruption transforming the world. The astronaut is reflective of the journey we want to take you on to help you deploy the most advanced technology solutions, making your business processes more profitable and your systems more powerful.

Agnos Mascot

Our Business Model

Agnos follows a Gain Share Model that implies that we charge a nominal upfront fee for our services, and then use a performance-based approach that links the majority of our fees towards achieving certain benefit milestones.

This pay for performance criterion ensures that we stay completely focused on our client’s business needs and entirely objective in our technology recommendations. We only say “Mission Accomplished” when the fruits of our labor yield measurable business results for our clients. In a nutshell, our top priority is always our clients’ bottom line.

On top of this, our 'Follow the Sun' software development model brings together diverse, highly qualified, handpicked software development teams from around the world, with varied perspectives offering innovative and affordable technology solutions.

Letter from the CEO

Dear clients, colleagues, and friends,

It has almost been 30 years since I graduated from Georgetown University, where through the Jesuit tradition, I was challenged to engage with the world and become a man “in the service of others, especially the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of the community”. I wasn’t able to completely comprehend the significance of those values back then and how they could bind members of the business community across diverse backgrounds, faiths, cultures, and traditions, but now I understand it well.

My journey with the industry giants like IBM, Unisys, Microsoft, and Accenture inspired me to tread a new path altogether. I decided to begin a technology solutions company that can leverage the best of both worlds - lessons learned from the tech industry titans and the lessons learned from a University deeply rooted in religious faith and tradition with an unwavering commitment to spiritual inquiry and civic engagement.

In April 2012, Agnos officially opened its doors to the world offering an unconventional business paradigm with equal emphasis on profits as well as the social cause. Since then, with our core competency in the field of software development, we have been continuously working hard to resolve specific industry challenges, especially in the healthcare sector. Our technical expertise and service execution excellence has been helping healthcare providers innovate and transform for a digital future.

In addition, as part of our philosophy to give back to our society, we work with our nonprofit organizations to address the critical challenges posed by the Digital Divide. Today we face a clear and uneven distribution in the access to, use of, or impact of information and communication technologies between any number of distinct groups. Our name, Agnos, literally means to "not know" so we ask ourselves every day why is it that only approximately 4% of all software developers in the United States are African-American? Why is it that almost 80% of software developers are male? We will be relentless in our pursuit to build a bridge between technology and inequality whether this inequality is based on race, gender, age, or socioeconomic status. I sincerely believe that the secret to building a great and sustainable company that will equally delight our customers and employees is to build our organization on the pillars of profit with a purpose and capitalism with a conscious.

We, at Agnos, believe in the famous words of Adam Smith, “What needs to emerge, and in some circles is emerging, is what I call a mutual or reciprocal economy that focuses on the needs of both the individual and the collective.”

All the best,

Samuel Salomon Levy

The Agnos Mantra: Making a Buck While Making a Difference

The Ethnic Digital Divide

We understand that access to digital technology is important; however, offering the right kind of training to use this technology to bring people to the mainstream is equally significant. Why do only 1% of technical employees in the United States belong to the African American community, when African Americans make up 13.4% of the population of the United States? Why are only 6.7% of computer programmers in the United States of Hispanic ethnicity, when Hispanics make up 18.5% of the United States population?

Some 46% of blacks and 48% of Hispanics say training to help them become more confident in using computers; smartphones and the internet will help them immensely in making important decisions. So, how do we at Agnos contribute to filling in the gaps?

We aim to leverage technology to build a bridge across the Digital Divide through access (IT Community Centers), education, and training. We plan to deploy intern resources from different ethnicities and backgrounds on the technology projects so they can obtain “in the trenches” skills to pay their bills while being surrounded by Top Gun technologists who can mentor them in their professional development.

Wounded Warriors Initiative

Why are only 2.1% of people with disabilities working in information technology, when people with disabilities make up 19% of the United States population? Being a technology company, Agnos also believes in expanding IT skills training to enhance opportunities for injured veterans returning home. We hope and plan to get into a partnership with the Wounded Warriors Project for helping American military veterans gain digital skills required for in-demand technology industry careers. We want to offer them the right training, career counseling, and information about the opportunities in the technology field.

Startup Initiatives for Low-income and Minorities

Although the share of new entrepreneurs who are from minority groups is now 45%, a considerable increase since 2007 when 33.6 % of new businesses were started by non-whites according to the 2017 National Report on Early Stage Entrepreneurship; the low-income and minority groups are still less likely to take those kinds of risks, as they lack a safety net. The entire start-up world is low on diversity when we consider the factors like — who can get the finances, who can raise the money, and who will pay if the start-up fails? These factors build on each other and hamper start-up initiatives.

At Agnos, we can help minorities and low-income groups with strategic advice, digital training, and access to networks.  We are also hoping and planning to get into a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA) and have top gun resources with extensive experience and lessons learned in nurturing a start-up firm from thought to going public.

Our Mission

Our single-minded mission is to dedicate our technology know-how, deep industry expertise, and global resources to working together with clients to make their businesses stronger. We believe in enabling people and businesses throughout the world to realize their full potential.

Our top priority is to reduce our client's IT costs and optimize their IT operations, making sure that the changes and improvements that we effectuate for our clients are substantial and long-lasting.

At the same time, we want to leverage technology to build a permanent bridge across the digital divide by ensuring that those who can work on the technology projects are included in the work we do for our clients and gain technology skills. We wish to be a catalyst for social change and aim to apply market-driven strategies to tackle critical social issues.

In addition, we intend to be looked upon as a company that attracts, develops, excites, and retains the most talented, diverse, and socially responsible people in the world. We aspire to show the world that a business paradigm based equally on profit and social purpose can be as viable and sustainable as the traditional and mainstream business models.

Our Vision

Our People

Passionate, Well-Qualified, Hand-Picked Thought-Leaders

We are an “old school” when it comes to the way we think about our employees. One of our key corporate goals is to offer our people a workplace culture that encourages “lifetime” employment. Although the changing market dynamics have made this concept obsolete yet we firmly believe in going “back to the future” – for us, our employees are our most important asset. Without our employees and the great value they offer, we can never be successful.

We are a “new school” when it comes to workplace diversity, social entrepreneurial mindset, and thought leadership.

We are made up of a workforce that far exceeds the percentage of population metric often used by many companies to justify their lack of ethnic, age, sexual, and gender representation.

We hand-pick individuals from around the globe with sharp analytical minds, creativity, excellent people skills, honesty, commitment, and loyalty to their clients in addition to sharing a unique passion for social responsibility that is inextricably tied to our everyday business activities.
